Simon Baynes MP is looking to recruit a full-time Senior Parliamentary Assistant to be based in his Westminster office.
Candidates must have previous Parliamentary experience, be able to demonstrate good political nous, understand the rhythms of Westminster, and be able to prioritise a varied workload.
Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Advise and ensure the MP is fully briefed on business of the House
- Research local, regional and national issues to support the MPs work
- Prepare and present results for the purposes of briefings notes for committees, parliamentary questions, articles and press releases
- Speech writing
- Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, organisations in the constituency and constituents through a variety of methods
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
- There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours
Requirements:
- Previous Parliamentary experience
- Experience using Member Hub and engaging with House services
- Be able to horizon scan, anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively identify problems and resolve them
- A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of a team
- Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail
- Ability to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
- An interest in current affairs, local and national politics and sympathy with Conservative Party values
