Office Manager to Flick Drummond MP

Flick Drummond MP is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Office Manager to join her team in Westminster. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with an ability to prioritise workload and make judgement calls, and able to demonstrate good political nous.

The position would suit a candidate seeking the next step in their career in Parliament, who can manage competing priorities efficiently and calmly; is competent and confident acting on their own initiative, as well as being a strong team-player.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Lead and maintain a highly professional administrative support function for the MP’s office
  • Manage and supervise the office team
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the budget, keeping the MP informed of all relevant financial matters and liaising with IPSA on office finance
  • Engage professionally, confidentially and with care and integrity with members of the public, organisations in Westminster and constituents through a variety of methods
  • Manage and monitor incoming calls, face to face enquiries, emails and social media enquiries, and sort and record daily mail.
  • Log all cases; monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken. Ensure all enquiries are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation
  • Ensure the office is fully equipped. Liaise with suppliers when required regarding office supplies and security
  • Deal with security matters, keep abreast of security guidance, maintain the security system, liaise with external bodies as appropriate
  • Minute taking
  • Assist in the compilation of briefing packs
  • Assist with non-complex casework
  • Monitoring and posting social media content

Salary will be in line with IPSA guidelines. Please state your salary expectations as part of your application.

Parliamentary Assistant to Mary Robinson MP

Mary Robinson MP is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Parliamentary Assistant to join her team in Westminster. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with an interest in providing research and briefings on a wide range of topics.

The position would suit a candidate seeking the next step in their career in Parliament, who can manage competing priorities efficiently and calmly; is competent and confident acting on their own initiative, as well as being a strong team-player.

Requirements:

  • A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of a team
  • Previous experience of working in the House and a broad knowledge of Parliamentary protocol and procedures
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
  • An interest in current affairs, local and national politics and sympathy with Conservative Party values
  • Previous experience as IPSA Proxy would be desirable, but training available for the right candidate

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Compiling research and briefing packs for MP
  • Ensuring the MP is fully briefed on business of the House
  • Co-management of the diary and inbox
  • Acting as IPSA Proxy
  • Draft policy responses to constituents, and correspondence to ministers
  • Assist with casework as required

Salary will reflect the experience already gained by the successful candidate
