Parliamentary Assistant to Mary Robinson MP

Mary Robinson MP is looking to recruit an experienced full-time Parliamentary Assistant to join her team in Westminster. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, with an interest in providing research and briefings on a wide range of topics.

The position would suit a candidate seeking the next step in their career in Parliament, who can manage competing priorities efficiently and calmly; is competent and confident acting on their own initiative, as well as being a strong team-player.

Requirements:

  • A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of a team
  • Previous experience of working in the House and a broad knowledge of Parliamentary protocol and procedures
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to complete work quickly, to a high standard, often under pressure
  • An interest in current affairs, local and national politics and sympathy with Conservative Party values
  • Previous experience as IPSA Proxy would be desirable, but training available for the right candidate

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Compiling research and briefing packs for MP
  • Ensuring the MP is fully briefed on business of the House
  • Co-management of the diary and inbox
  • Acting as IPSA Proxy
  • Draft policy responses to constituents, and correspondence to ministers
  • Assist with casework as required

Salary will reflect the experience already gained by the successful candidate

Caseworker to Chris Clarkson MP

Chris Clarkson MP is looking to hire a Caseworker to be part of the team for Heywood & Middleton. Caseworkers are an important role in an MP’s office, supporting the MP to ensure that constituents concerns are heard and actioned. Applicants should have an interest in local & national politics, an awareness of the constituency & be sympathetic with the values of the Conservative party.

The successful candidate will be well-organised and pro-active with strong communication skills. This role also requires a flexible and can-do attitude and the ability to deal sensitively and empathetically with constituents and casework.

Requirements:

  • A highly motivated staff member, with a positive attitude and ability to work collectively as part of a team
  • Experience of casework, a public facing role or working directly with the general public
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with, and advocating on behalf of, a wide range of people
  • Clear and concise letter writing style
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to use casework management software (training will be provided)
  • Good attention to detail and ability to prioritise their workload

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Answering enquiries from constituents and progressing casework as required
  • Logging cases, monitoring progress, and ensuring data is held and processed in accordance with Regulations
  • Ensure that casework is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately
  • Liaise with Government agencies, local government departments, housing associations and others to resolve constituency matters

Role to be based in the constituency; remote working will also be considered.
