About Jane:
Jane Stevenson has been the Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton North East since 2019. Jane was recently appointed as PPS in the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and serves on the Digital, Media and Sport Committee.
Jane is an active campaigner and champion for her constituency and the wider region and particular areas of interest are regeneration, training, high street improvement, access to sport and campaigning for a new train station. She was an international professional classical singer, local councillor and music teacher before becoming a Member of Parliament.
About the role:
This is a key role supporting Jane when she is in Westminster. Ideally full-time, but flexibility exists on salary and hours for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will provide a range of administrative and secretarial support to Jane, always thinking one step ahead to ensure she is prepared for upcoming engagements. You will support Jane with her Parliamentary duties, and provide support in drafting correspondence and documents as needed.
The post-holder will work closely with the constituency office team ensuring smooth running of the diary, as well as liaising with the travel office and other agents to administer and arrange the MP’s travel.
About you:
You will need to be highly organised, confident acting on your own initiative and be able to make the right prioritisation calls under pressure.
Ideally you will have some Parliamentary experience; understand the rhythms of Westminster and the support an MP needs from their team.
The ideal candidate will stay calm under pressure, be organised and efficient and able to prioritise and respond to upcoming deadlines.
You will need excellent written skills, and an ability to draft letters, emails and documents for the MP, using an excellent standard of English.
