Andrea Jenkyns has been the Member of Parliament for Morley and Outwood since the 2015 General Election. She is a straight-talking Yorkshire woman motivated by family, community and nation – three principles that underlie both her constituency and Parliamentary work.
Andrea is currently Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education and has previously held positions as an Assistant Government Whip and as a PPS. Andrea is a passionate and active campaigner in her constituency and for the region, as well as holding significant roles on many APPGs.
About the role:
This is a key role based in Andrea’s constituency office in Morley, Leeds and will focus on establishing and developing appropriate strategies around social media, online presence and proactive constituency communications. The role will also involve the management of multiple fast-paced projects, deputising for the Office Manager, and providing leadership to a small team.
The successful candidate will need to be able to build relationships with local stakeholders, and write external communications, including press releases, newsletters, and surveys.
You will accompany the MP to events and visits, reporting where appropriate, and work closely with other members of the team, ensuring that the MP’s work is communicated effectively within the constituency.
The role will include managing and assisting with events, including venue research, compiling and managing guest lists and providing on the day event support as required.
You will need to be a dynamic and positive team-player, who is able to role up their sleeves and work closely with Andrea to help deliver her priorities for her constituents. Experience in project management is essential and a track record of managing a team, with an understanding of HR, is also desirable.
The ideal candidate will be politically and media savvy, a confident communicator and have experience in writing and preparing content for press and social media, including graphics and videos.
Knowledge and understanding of developing and delivering events on behalf of an MP is also useful, as is an understanding and awareness of the constituency and issues affecting the region.
